Facade murals
These run the full height of apartment blocks — compositions of musicians, saints and national figures, set out and painted at height by rope access.
The technical problem at this scale is that the painter can never see the whole. Every judgement about proportion is made from a few feet away on a surface that will be viewed from three hundred, which makes accurate setting-out the difference between a mural and a distortion.
Street level
Closer to the ground the work changes register — brighter, flatter, faster to read. Portrait work in strong flat colour, and decorative schemes with owls, flowers and animals on boundary walls, of the kind that carry municipal beautification programmes across long runs of otherwise dead surface.
