Fiber Cast Relief Murals
A selection of cast fiber relief murals from the studio. Each begins as a full-size clay original, is moulded, then cast in FRP and finished — bronze, gilded, or left in a pale monochrome where the composition depends entirely on shadow.
Buddha and disciples
A deep landscape relief — the Buddha seated beneath trees, disciples in the foreground, deer at the edge of the composition. The depth range is wide: near-freestanding figures at the front, shallow modelling in the distant foliage, so the panel holds real aerial perspective rather than being uniformly carved.
Surya with the seven horses
Gilded, high-relief, and deliberately turbulent. The seven horses break almost fully clear of the ground plane, which is what gives the panel its movement; the sun disc behind them is left flat and smooth so the eye reads the contrast between the still and the moving parts.
Monochrome relief
The pale praying-hands panel demonstrates the opposite approach — no colour, no metallic finish, nothing but modelled form. It works entirely through shadow, which makes it heavily dependent on raking light and, when lit correctly, unusually quiet.
